According to Darshan Hiranandani, who heads H-Energy, a part of the Hiranandani Group, they're investing Rs 2,200 crore to build a 635-km gas pipeline by 2020. They expect to get all the permissions by October and start building it in December, aiming to finish in 18 months.
This pipeline project involves getting 1,100 permissions, including crossing rivers, national parks, and highways.
Today, the Hiranandani Group introduced India's first floating storage regasification unit at Ratnagiri's port. Darshan Hiranandani mentioned they've already spent Rs 1,600 crore on building facilities like the breakwater, jetty, and other infrastructure, including a 60-km pipeline to Dabhol, linking it to the national gas grid.
Darshan Hiranandani also said they plan to start operations by October when the Dabhol pipeline is done. Currently, they can handle 4 million tonnes of cargo, with plans to expand to 10 million tonnes eventually. In the first year, they aim to handle 1 million tonnes of cargo, using the gas for various purposes like industries and homes.
